Beach Essentials!

missjessamy

Hello Everybody! Today I am going to be talking about my Beach Essentials! Recently I have been spending a lot of time at the beach due to it being Summer here in Australia. So today (with the help of my bestie Mahlee) I am going to talk about my beach essentials! Let’s begin!

My first essential is a beach bag! Now this is a must because you need somewhere to store all of your beach essentials. I always take massive beach bags to the beach because I love having the room to take all the stuff I want. This picture is an example of a beach bag you can take. It is super oversized that you can easily fit everything in.

Image

My next essential is a towel. A towel has two uses at the beach and that is to lay on it and to dry yourself off after going for a swim- so it is important to have a thick and durable towel. I just roll my towel up in my beach bag until it is needed on the beach. I use this thick Espirt one because it is really thick and nice to take to the beach.

Image

My third essential is sunscreen. Now this is super important at the beach because it protects you from getting burnt which is so important- especially where I live. I always use a 30+ sunscreen at the beach because it protects my extremely fair skin from getting burnt.

Image

Next we have the obvious essential at the beach and they are togs. Whether you wear a bikini or a one piece; togs are a must at the beach and remember if you don’t feel 100% wearing togs at the beach, you can always chuck on a pair of board shorts for a bit more modesty. At this moment I wear one pieces because that is what I feel more comfortable in especially at the beach- but what ever you feel more comfortable in,you wear!

Image

The next essential are sunglasses! Sunglasses are a must at the beach to block glare and protect your eyes (they are also are super cute accessory!). My “Club Master” sunglasses I have below are from Cotton On and my Circle ones are from Mascotte. Make sure you wear a good quality pair of sunglasses so your eyes don’t get damaged!

 Image

Now we have that all important reading material. I like to take magazines (Like Shop or Dolly) down to the beach or a good book like, Looking For Alaska by John Green. Once I have finished swimming at the beach I like to lay on my towel and read a good book or magazine- I find it super relaxing. If reading isn’t your thing, you can take your Phone or iPad and play on it and listen to some music.

I hope you all enjoyed my Beach Essentials post today! I hope you all had a great Christmas and have a great New Year! I am so grateful and thankful to you guys for your help with my blog this year. Achieving now 600 views ( when I expected like 10) is truly amazing, so thank you all so much!

Christmas Tree Decorating

missjessamy

Hello Everyone,

Before I start todays post, I would like to let you know that I have now officially begun my Youtube Channel and would love for you to check it out! The link for my channel is

http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGXj2VCV2_LHArtV_uOkDZg

and I would love you to check it out!

Okay, so on to the point of todays post! I am going to show you guys the process of making my Christmas Tree- building and decorating this year.

So firstly, I built the tree by matching the branches to the correct slots and put the mat around the base of the tree (for the presents). After I completed building my tree I fluffed it. Basically ‘fluffing’ means you spread out the branches so the tree becomes fuller and you can’t see through it. Due to mine being against the wall I focused more on the front of the tree for fluffing and only lightly fluffed the backside. It is very important to fluff your trees so the branches aren’t as sparse.

Image

                              Un-fluffed                                                              Fluffed

 Image

Secondly I wrapped my fairy lights around the tree. I started from the bottom and evenly wrapped the lights around until I reached the top.

TIP: Push the lights into the tree so the cords aren’t visible and it just looks like the lights are attached to the tree; not wrapped around. Also leave your lights on when you decorate the tree so you can see where the decorations need to go.

Image

I then decorated the tree. This year I went for a silver and white theme- which I think looked modern and fresh. I didn’t overload the tree this year with decorations because I quite like the simpler look. I made sure to evenly spread around the decorations so they were not in one big clump on the tree.

 Image

I then put the beautiful angel on top. I’m pretty sure my family have had this Angel since I was little- so it goes on the tree every year.

Image

And thats it! My tree took me quite a while, when I built it; because I like to make decorating the tree a joyous activity 🙂

Hope you guys liked this post and get some inspiration from it. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

xx Jess

Bedroom Christmas Decorating

missjessamy

Hey Everyone,

Recently I got a little excited for Christmas and totally decked out my room for the Festive Season. So today I thought I would show you guys how I decorated my room!

Firstly, I put this cute little silver Christmas Tree on my bedside table and decorated it with simple and small decorations. I found these cute little present decorations-so I just hung them around the tree evenly. I also found this mini-angel from a Christmas Container I own- so I graced the top of the tree with it.

Image

Secondly, I put some fairy lights up. I wrapped one red set around the rail of my curtains. Having them near the curtains creates the nicest atmosphere. I also hung some sets around my bookshelf. I think the lights make my room look really really beautiful and also it makes my room all cosy and pretty at night.

Image

Image

I also hung up some cute stockings around the room- they have bears on them! I hung one from another set of shelves I have in my room; off the corner. I hung the other one off some tinsel I had wrapped around a canvas in my room. I think having stockings in your room perfectly adds to the Christmas atmosphere.

Image

 Image

To add even more to the Christmas Theme, I got some battery powered sparkly candles and a Crackling Fire and Cinnamon Spice Diffuser from Air Wick. These candles came in a pack of six for $6 from Crazy Clarks (or some cheap shop) however they are good quality. The already come with batteries, all you have to do is turn them on. I think these are absolutely perfect for the Christmas Season and also they are really safe because they are battery powered- not fire. Okay guys, this diffuser is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It literally makes my room smell like Christmas! Like it Christmas had a distinctive smell- this is what it would be. It fills the whole room with the amazing smell of Crackling Fire and Cinnamon Spice and I love it. I just keep it on my desk and it fills my room with the most amazing scent. I highly recommend this product!

Image

 Image

On top of everything, I have randomly placed some other Christmasy things around my room. I stuck this santa hat to my bathroom door because it looked boring without any decoration. I think this looks so cute! I also have placed this Santa statue on top of my selves for extra detail.

 Happy Decorating!

Remove from bowl and knead mixture into a ball (I kneaded it on a pre-floured board)

Image

Wrap Gingerbread mixture in cling wrap

Image

Leave for AT LEAST 1 Hour in the fridge (can be made 2 days in advance)

Pre-Heat oven to 150 degrees (celsius)

Remove from fridge and sprinkle flour over a clean surface

Roll out dough to your preferred thickness (½ cm- 1cm)

Cut shapes in mixture and place on Baking Paper on the Baking Tray

Leave at least 1/2cm between cookies (for spreading reasons)

Place in oven for 10-25mins- until golden brown

Remove from oven and TA DA!! You have made your own Gingerbread! You can decorate them if you wish- but I prefer them plain! These Gingerbreads are so light and delicious- They are sure to be a hit this Christmas!

Haul!

missjessamy

Hey Everyone,

Recently, I have done a cheeky bit of shopping. I have brought clothes as well as some accessories and bath items. So today I thought I would do a HAUL for your guys. Now just to put this out there- I am in no way trying to show off about what I have purchased. I just want to show you guys what I like to buy and wear.

Firstly, I picked up two new pairs of sunglasses. The first pairs style I believe is called “Clubmaster”. They are just plain black but are rimmed down the bottom with silver. Personally I find the style “Wayfarers” don’t really suit me, but I think these do due to the thinner piece in the middle. I honestly don’t know why the piece in the middle makes such a difference; but it does- for myself anyway. I got these ones from “Cotton On” for $10.00. The second pair I got are a round lensed pair. I have been looking for a pair like this for quite a while now so when I saw these, I loved them. They have the tortoise shell look on the temple of the glasses, so they are very versatile. I got these from a store called Mascotte at my local shopping centre, on sale from $30.00 to $10.00.

 Image

Secondly, I got this cream handbag from the same shop as the sunglasses- Mascotte. I really like this bag because it was very classic, and will be a staple in my wardrobe. I would say this style of bag is one of the most common. It has the short handles and the round (barrel) shape of the bag. I think due to the colour and shape it could be worn with a casual outfit (Blouse and Shorts) or even like a nice dress at night time. This bag was down from $100.00 to $40.00.

Image

Okay guys, this next item has a story behind it. So about 4 weeks ago I went shopping with my mum and tried on this playsuit with a few others from Glassons; at the time it was $50. So anyway I didn’t up end up buying it because instead I got a denim one. Then a few days after going out shopping I went on the Glassons website and saw it was then reduced to $30- and I didn’t really think much of it at the time. Anyways last Thursday, I went back to the same Glassons, and found the same Playsuit I had tried on 4 weeks earlier (same size and everything) at the reduced price. So I was so excited and loved it so much I just HAD to buy it. I think this is really a versatile Playsuit because of the dark navy almost black colour and the loose style- which could be worn in the Summer with a crop tee or in the Winter with High Socks and a jumper.

Image

On Friday, I went to Sportsgirl and got this top that I had had my eye on for a while. I think it is so cute. It is a simple crop top with Daisies printed on it. Now if you know one thing about me; it is that my all time favourite flowers are Daisies- I call them happy flowers. Anyways, this top looks really nice with skater skirts (I wear it with my Denim skater skirt and yellow one) or Playsuits (I wear it with my Denim one and my new Navy one). You could also wear this shirt with shorts or even with a maxi-skirt. This shirt was $34.99- which I didn’t think was too bad for the quality and that I loved it so much.

Image

Another top I got from Sportsgirl is another crop- but it is long sleeved. It has simple navy and white stripes all over the shirt. I have been looking for a top like this for a while and when I got it on sale from $34.99 to $13.00- I was pretty happy. This top really goes with anything- shorts, skirts, playsuits etc. I like this top also because it is a longer crop- so it is more versatile.

 Image

I also got this simple black bow midi-ring from Colette. I love midi-rings at the moment and I also love bows so this was the perfect combination. This ring was $3.95 and will go with everything- so I am excited to wear it.

 Image

Lastly, I picked up two things from Lush. I got their Limited Edition Snow Fairy Body Wash ($9.95) and their Father Christmas Bath Ballistic ($6.50). They both smell so amazing- like Christmas. Snow Fairy is extremely sweet and sugary where as the Bath Ballistic has more of a zingy and fruity scent- and it makes your bath water green!!!! I love Lush and these products and am planning to go and get more Bath Ballistics this weekend (hopefully). I am going to do a full review on all my Lush Christmas items in the coming weeks- which will involve more in depth explanations.

That concludes my haul today- hope you all enjoyed me posting about my recent shopping!
